Organizing a Supply Drive

Perhaps it seems ironic that the mariners who work to deliver goods from around the world to our homes and workplaces can find it difficult to obtain the same items of modern convenience. With long stretches on the water and long distances from home, mariners miss the opportunities that most of society of take for granted.

In consultation with our staff, chaplain and mariners, we have compiled a Seafarers Supply List in which many items can be found at ordinary retail stores, but make an extraordinary impact in the lives of others. Seafarers' needs are simple, and include items like; body lotion, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, lip balm, utility gloves, socks and other basic necessities. We ask that all items be new, in unused condition.

The Galveston Seafarers Center provides excellent volunteer service projects that are easy to coordinate. We can get you, your church, your company, a girl scout or boy scout troop or a service organization set up with the materials needed to get people motivated and participating.
